Cultural Forums worldwide
The agendas of Austria’s International Cultural Policy are conceptually and organisationally shaped and supervised by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. The network of Austrian Representations, and in particular the currently 31 Austrian Cultural Forums in 29 countries, play an essential role in this regard. Every year, they organise and support a large part of over 5,000 cultural and scientific projects in the network of International Cultural Policy in many places around the world.
The aim is to build and maintain meaningful cultural bridges to the world. The focus lies on contemporary and creative activities from Austria in culture and science. Austrian Cultural Forums are thus decentrally organised focal points of Austrian cultural work abroad (“embassies for culture”).
They develop locally coordinated programmes and projects with creatives and cultural institutions from the fields of culture and science in their respective host countries. Furthermore, they also act as service centres for Austrian artists, musicians, creatives and scientists and support them in their efforts to establish contacts and networks abroad.
