Essay Contest / Embassy Helsinki

Finnish students write about Austria

The Finland-Austria Association, together with the German Teachers’ Association, has successfully organized an essay competition in German for the upper secondary school level for 31 years. In different categories, various Austria topics are available for selection, which require a certain knowledge of the country and deal with current issues (including 25 years of common EU membership, or challenges of distance learning).

Despite the difficult teaching conditions, 17 schools with a total of 75 students participated in the current school year and submitted their work. The award ceremony for the lucky winners took place online this year, but this did not diminish the joy of the awards. Traditionally, two full scholarships for a language course in Austria, cash stipends and German-language books for young people provided by the Austrian Embassy are awarded.
