Florentina Holzinger: „Apollon” / Cultural Forum Tokyo

Screening from performance and workshop

The Kyoto Experiment performance festival will present screenings of “Apollon” by Florentina Holzinger on March 5 and 6, 2021, as part of its new “Super Knowledge for the Future” program. Kyoto Experiment is an international performing arts festival dedicated to presenting experimental performing projects from around the world since 2010.
With Five Muses and God Apollo, Florentina Holzinger explores attributions of the feminine.

The starting point of the piece is George Balanchine’s 1928 ballet quartet “Apollon Musagète,” which sought to reinvent traditions at the time to the music of Igor Stravinsky. With an aesthetic tightrope walk between occult gym, cyborg bullfight and neoclassical ballet, Holzinger offers a new perspective on choreography and bridges the gap between high art and entertainment.
The screening will be followed by an online workshop with the artist. With the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum Tokyo.
