As part of the contemporary art festival ANTI in Kuopio, the Finnish premiere of Florentina HOLZINGER’s production “Apollon” will take place. “Apollon” is also in competition for the ANTI Festival International Prize for Live Art 2021. In “Apollon” Florentina Holzinger explores attributions of the feminine. The starting point of the piece is George Balanchine’s 1928 ballet quartet “Apollon Musagète,” which sought to reinvent traditions at the time to the music of Igor Stravinsky. With an aesthetic tightrope walk between occult gym, cyborg bullfight and neoclassical ballet, Holzinger offers a new perspective on choreography and bridges the gap between high art and entertainment.
