Americans in Vienna from 1945 to 1955 are the focus of a digital international conference organized by the Center for Austrian and German Studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva in cooperation with the Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies on April 27 from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. (CET). International historians, including scholars at Austrian universities such as Brigitte Bailer, Siegfried Beer, Frank Stern and Oliver Sukrow, will discuss the civilian and military presence of Americans in Vienna in the first decade after World War II. Günter Bischof from the University of New Orleans will give the keynote address. Key issues from the research areas of intelligence and espionage, art and culture, and occupation or liberation will be discussed. Participation is open to all interested parties worldwide.
