How is the pandemic affecting contemporary literary production – writing, translating and publishing – in both Central Europe and North America? In cooperation with the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies at the University of Alberta, Kulturforum Ottawa will host a webinar with literary practitioners and experts on March 30, at 6 pm. The discussion will feature Johanna Öttl (Program Director Literature, Alte Schmiede Vienna), Canadian-based Ukrainian author and translator Vasyl Lozynskyi, Austrian author Clemens Berger, and Xenia Kopf, Austria’s 2019/2020 “Doctoral Research Fellow” (Literary Studies) at the Wirth Institute. The exchange will focus particularly on working “between literatures,” the relationship between “small” and “large” literatures, program and small publishing structures, funding opportunities, and digital transformation.
