Austrian mezzo-soprano Isabel Pfefferkorn and the Swedish ensemble KammarensembleN perform the work “Mother Tongue” by Swiss-Nigerian composer Charles Uzor at the Stockholm Concert Hall.
Isabel Pfefferkorn is a versatile musician praised for her expressiveness and intuitive musicality. Her broad repertoire includes music from the Baroque to the present, as well as jazz and pop. In 2017, she made her debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus, performing music by Pierre Boulez. One of the highlights of last season was a tour of the U.S. and Canada performing Franz Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise.
Mother Tongue (2007) reflects the musical components of composer Charles Uzor’s native Igbo language. He was born in Nigeria and came to Switzerland at the age of seven. He writes music for orchestra, choir, dance and opera, but preferably for chamber music and voice.
Since its foundation in 1984, Kammar¬ensembleN has been one of the driving forces of the Swedish contemporary art music scene.
In collaboration with the Swiss Embassy and the Stockholm Concert Hall.
