On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Austrian Cultural Forum Belgrade invited contemporary artists from Austria and Serbia to submit works for the online platform “At Second Glance // Na drugi pogled”, which deal with the view of each other, with the clichés between Austria and Serbia.
From the more than 300 submissions, ten works each from Austria and Serbia were selected by a renowned jury, taking into account the artistic value, the relation to the call’s theme and the topicality of the artworks. Four thematic complexes were at the forefront of the selected works: the conflict-ridden history, the legacy of the “guest workers”, current migration experiences and the individual experience of “otherness”.
The exhibition can be viewed online at https://secondglance.rs starting March 10. Each month, the focus will be on two artists who will continue the artistic dialogue between Austria and Serbia with video statements, interviews and digital discussions. A physical exhibition in Belgrade is also planned for September.
