Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is also widely known in India. On Friday, March 12, 2021, the Austrian Cultural Forum New Delhi will offer the Indian audience the live concert “Mozart On Sitar” at the Stein Auditorium of the India Habitat Center, New Delhi, in compliance with all local COVID regulations. With public events being allowed again in New Delhi since February 2021, this concert serves as a welcome to local music lovers by the Cultural Forum.
During the concert, Shubhendra Rao (a student of the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar), a composer and sitar player who is very famous in India, will reinterpret works by Mozart on the sitar, an Indian stringed instrument sitar, and blend them with local sounds. He will be accompanied by Saskia Rao-de Haas (cello) and Ishaan Leonard Rao (piano). Thus, the concert will offer an interesting mix of European music and Indian instruments for the local audience.
The seating arrangement for the audience at the venue will comply with the applicable spacing rules.
