The Biwako Biennial 2020 in Omihachiman and Hikone will show 60 works by contemporary artists* from 20 countries at 18 unique locations. The multimedia installations, some of them large-format, will be shown in traditional Japanese houses, so-called “Machiyas”, temples, a former sake factory, a Japanese garden, Hikone Castle, a former bathhouse and a chapel.
Thomas Feuerstein’s work “ORACLE” is presented in the KANEKICHI Second House, the former townhouse of a wealthy merchant in traditional Japanese architecture. On view from October 10 to November 23, 2020, with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum Tokyo.
