Let’s imagine that liberal democracy still has its best days ahead of it! Under the theme of IMAGINE DEMOCRATIC REGENERATION, this yearbook explores a diverse range of artistic visions and interdisciplinary approaches on the future of liberal democracy and the democratic design of a regenerative way of life and economic culture in the age of artificial intelligence. In order to address the major global challenges, we need democracies that are capable of taking action. Strengthening these democracies is a central theme of the IMAGINE DIGNITY initiative, which the Foreign Ministry launched to mark the 50th anniversary of Austrian international cultural relations in 2023. DIGNITY refers to the dignity of nature as a whole, the dignity of humans, and the dignity of all other species. IMAGINE is a rallying cry for new imaginative ideas that will consolidate liberal democracy—one of humanity’s outstanding achievements—and make it fit for the future.
