From September 19-26, the Ukrainian-Austrian Art Residency 2021 will take place in Kiev. The UAAR, which is being held in cooperation with the renowned cultural center Mystetskyi Arsenal and the province of Lower Austria, is a pilot project of KF Kiev to promote artist dialogue between Ukraine and Austria. Already since July, 10 artists from both countries have been engaged in an online process to explore a place that is only accessible digitally. In the second phase of the project, which will culminate in a group exhibition of the works created during the project at the Mala Gallery in the Mystetskyi Arsenal, all artists and mentors will gather for a week of creative dialogue in Kiev. The program will be supplemented by a lecture by Ars Electronica curator Jürgen Hagler and a visit to artists’ studios, which will give participants an opportunity to exchange ideas and network with an expanded circle of Ukrainian artists.
