On September 1, at the Austrian Consulate General, the vernissage of the open-air exhibition “ALMOST. 100 Cities in Vienna” took place in the presence of photo author Wojciech Czaja. The starting point of this exhibition is the book of the same name published in 2020 by Wojciech Czaja (Wojciech Czaja | Facebook), an architect and journalist of Polish descent living in Vienna. Plagued by wanderlust, he sat down on his Vespa during the first lockdown and set off in Vienna with his I-Phone in search of the wide world. Surprising himself, he discovered numerous magical places that reminded him of other cities from distant regions and countries of the world. The book became a surprise success in 2020. In the exhibition, which is attached to the garden wall of the GK, we show the architectural diversity as well as the urban wealth of Vienna on 20 panels, each with 2 large-format photos. The exhibition can be visited until October 10. In addition, a contest will also be organized on the FB page of the Consulate General (Konsulat Generalny Austrii / Austrian Consulate General Krakow | Facebook) to reach a wider audience. We will ask the participants to follow Czaja’s footsteps through their respective hometowns and send us their photos of distant impressions in unsuspected places.
