From May 6 to 23, 2021, the European Film Festival Singapore took place for the 30th time. With 23 films from as many European countries, it was possible to show the wide range of current European filmmaking. To everyone’s relief, the festival, which had to be cancelled in 2020 due to pandemic, could take place this year under numerous restrictions and security precautions.
The Austrian contribution ANGELO could be screened on May 22 at the art cinema “The Projector” in front of a maximum audience of 100 film enthusiasts due to the pandemic. The film by Austrian director and screenwriter Markus Schleinzer tells the story of Angelo Soliman, as a mythological figure in Vienna’s urban history, once bought as a child slave, later a valet, a freemason and, after his end, a taxidermied exhibit in a Viennese museum.
