Restoration and conservation in Old Delhi

The government of India’s capital Delhi is keen not only to preserve historic buildings but also to breathe new life into them. With this in mind, the Austrian Cultural Forum New Delhi is organizing, at the request of Indian decision-makers, a series of seminars entitled “Rejuvenating Two Historical Sites in Shahjahanabad – The Old Delhi City”, in the course of which local institutions, including the Department of Urban Development of the Government of Delhi, the School of Planning and Architecture New Delhi and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and their Austrian partners, among others. the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the Austrian Office for the Protection of Monuments, are to develop ways and means of restoring a part of the historic old city of Delhi to its former glory. The kick-off event of this seminar series is scheduled for June 15, 2021.
