On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June, ÖB Tbilisi opened the exhibition “Guest of Nature” together with the ADC coordination office and its partner organizations as well as the Minister for Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The aim of the exhibition is to present Friedensreich Hundertwasser not only as an artist but also as a pioneer in environmental protection and sustainability to a wider audience in Georgia and at the same time to establish the link to the joint Austrian-Georgian efforts in this field today. Works and quotes by the artist were taken up and juxtaposed with concrete projects and activities of Austrian Development Assistance.
Both because of the COVID pandemic and following Hundertwasser’s thought, this exhibition takes place outdoors. Krtsanisi Park on the outskirts of Tbilisi is a natural park whose forests were in danger of being cut down before a strong movement, supported by ADC among others, was able to ensure their rescue. Today, the park is beginning to provide peace and recreation to the surrounding population as a local recreation area.
So the exhibition also serves to make the park better known. In June and July, special activities and lectures are planned twice a week in the park to accompany the exhibition thematically and to attract more groups of visitors.
