The flagship project of the Neighborhood Dialogue Austria Slovenia 2019/2020 is the group exhibition of Austrian and Slovenian women artists When Gesture Becomes Event. The exhibition is the result of the collaboration between the Ljubljana City Gallery and the Vienna Künstlerhaus and brings together sixteen different artistic positions that deal with basic considerations of solidarity as social support between people, other living beings and the environment. Curated by Alenka Gregorič and Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein, the group show was first shown at the Vienna Künstlerhaus under the difficult COVID-19 conditions and is currently running with success at the Ljubljana Municipal Galleries (until June 20, 2021). Unfortunately, shortly after the opening, an incident occurred in which an installation by Katharina Cibulka with the inscription in Slovenian “As long as the hope we spread is greater than the fear we face, I will be a feminist” was damaged by vandalism. The inscription on the artwork is meant in solidarity, but is likely to have met with disapproval.
