Commemorating 125 Years of Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose / Cultural Forum New Delhi

Roundtable on Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

The Cultural Forum of the Austrian Embassy New Delhi organized a roundtable on “Commemorating 125 Years of Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose” on March 26, 2021. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the leader of the Indian National Congress in the late 1930s and early 1940s and is now considered one of the pioneers of Indian independence. During World War II, he spent extended periods in the German Empire, including in what is now Austria, where he sought support for the Indian National Army he founded to fight the British occupation. During his time in what is now Austria, Netaji married S.C. Bose in Vienna and also had a daughter there, who now lives in Germany.

The discussion took place in the conference hall of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi, in front of a small audience and was also broadcast virtually. Among others, Netaji’s daughter Anita PFAFF, his grandniece Madhuri Bose and the Austrian political scientist Prof. Dr. Anton Pelinka were connected via zoom.
The recorded video of the event can be viewed on the YouTube channel of the Austrian Embassy New Delhi.
