Francophone Film Days in Tunis / Embassy Tunis

Francophone Film Festival

The celebrations planned in 2020 around the 50th anniversary of Francophonie unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the Corona pandemic. This spring, the Francophone Film Week could finally take place at the Cité de la Culture in Tunis as a kick-off event. On the program (see https://de.calameo.com/read/0058527981eb9f9445e3a) were more than 20 films from numerous countries of the Francophonie, which celebrate this anniversary in the host country Tunisia with diplomatic representations as members or observers. The opening was made by the Tunisian film “Sur la Transversale” by Sami Tlili. In addition to films for children, dramas and comedies, the program also included documentaries. Austria presented the musical drama “Casanova Variations” by Michael Sturminger with a top-class cast including John Malkovich and Veronika Ferres. Through this film week, the cultural as well as linguistic diversity in the francophone region was brought closer to an audience with free admission and in compliance with sanitary regulations.
