eVe is a new award from the European arts and technology network The Grid, which from now on will annually honor collaborative art projects between artists and technologists that explore the boundary between human and artificial creativity.
The first eVe Award goes to Austrian writer Daniel Kehlmann and U.S. philosopher and AI researcher Bryan McCann for their groundbreaking artistic exploration of machine natural language processing (NLP) through the algorithm CTRL. The project is titled “AI Storytelling” and is an attempt to tell literary stories in novel ways, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the creative writing process. The project has a special meaning for us as it was created in the Open Austria Art + Tech Lab. eVe will be awarded at the global innovation conference SXSW in a public event organized by Open Austria.
