The Austrian Cultural Forum New York is pleased to present the exhibition “Three with a Pen. Lily Renée, Bil Spira, and Paul Peter Porges” in cooperation with the Jewish Museum Vienna. The three artists share a common fate: born in Vienna and expelled from their homeland after the Anschluss in 1938, they had to and were able to assert themselves elsewhere. During flight, captivity and afterwards, they used their drawing pencils as tools for survival and as artistic weapons. The exhibition, which will be on view in the in-house gallery of the Cultural Forum New York from March 11 to September 3, 2021, features revealing caricatures and loving portraits, satires on society, comics, and documents of horror. To prevent the works from being overshadowed by the biographies, the exhibition presents the artists’ works and lives separately.
