The Austrian Cultural Forum Paris presents in cooperation with the Kunstraum Niederoesterreich and the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris the project Stormy Weather. This exhibition deals with the infrastructure of the cloud. Why is the place where we store our data called the cloud in the first place? How are weather, climate and technology connected? And how is this reflected in contemporary art? Through the metaphor of the cloud, we imagine that data is stored in a virtual and “immaterial” heaven. However, this hides the concrete manifestations of these heavy infrastructures and their impact on the climate. In the course of the Stormy Weather exhibition, artistic performances will be shown that explore this tension between seemingly ephemeral infrastructures (the cloud) and their concrete effects on reality.
The following artists participated in the project: Total Refusal (Robin Klengel, Leonhard Müllner and Michael Stumpf, AT), Stefan Karrer (CH/AT), Yein Lee (AT/KR), Leonhard Müllner & Susanna Flock (AT), Christiane Peschek (AT), Fragmentin (CH), Till Langschied (CH/DE), Marc Lee (CH), Christoph Wachter & Mathias Jud (CH).
For press and professionals a viewing took place in the presence of the curators Katharina Brandl (Kunstraum Niederoesterreich) and Claire Hoffmann (CCS) as well as some artists. For the public, the exhibition can be viewed online on the social media channels of the Austrian Cultural Forum Paris.
Stormy Weather will be on display at the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris until April 18, 2021.
