A fixed point in the work of the Cultural Forums is the necessary reflection on history, especially the period of National Socialism, and its significance for the present. The Austrian Cultural Forum Berlin therefore always exchanges views on this with project partners throughout Germany and supports those who deal with the subject matter. The current publication KOSMOS ÖSTERREICH also focuses on “Culture and Remembrance”.
On the occasion of “1700 years of Jewish life in Germany,” the Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia celebrates its female side with Jewish feminist positions in the past and present-until August 29, 2021, at four different exhibition venues in the city and in public spaces. In response to the Corona crisis, the Jewish Museum, with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum Berlin, is thus sending a strong and loud signal: Shalom Sisters*! helps to ensure that Jewish life is perceived in its historical and contemporary diversity and that existing stereotypes are broken down. Because feminism is not a “women’s issue”, but a contribution to a more just world.
