The Kyoto Women’s University German Language Haiku Contest annually invites Japanese students of German to submit poems in the traditional haiku form on a given theme. The competition is under German, Swiss and Austrian auspices, represented by the Austrian Cultural Forum Tokyo.
For this year’s theme, “A Summer at Home,” there were 305 entries from 221 participants from 17 universities and two schools throughout Japan. The writer and poet Karl Lubomirski is a member of the jury for Austria.
The winners will receive German language courses lasting several months. The announcement of the main prizes and the award ceremony will take place online on December 19, 2020.
