Adolf Loos (1870-1933) would have been 150 years old this year on December 10. The Austrian architect, architecture critic and cultural publicist is regarded as a pioneer of modern architecture and is praised for the concentration, scarcity, sobriety and functionality of his work; qualities by which other forms of artistic activity are also repeatedly measured.
Dancing Loos is an online collaboration of the Brussels Cultural Forum with the Institute of Dance Arts of the Anton Bruckner Private University on the one hand and two very well-known Austrian Loos experts on the other. Dance and word are connected with each other through the mediation of architecture. In the first part of the project “Loos” will be presented as a dance video choreographed by Rose Breuss and performed by Maria Shurkhal. Markus Kristan (Albertina, Vienna) will take a “Loos walk” through downtown Vienna from “Loos site to Loos site” based on a text on Loos written by the internationally renowned curator and cultural philosopher Herbert Lachmayer.
