For 10 years, the Transpoetry Festival, organised by the EUNIC Cluster Brussels, has been celebrating linguistic diversity in Europe: each year it invites its visitors to discover a selection of poems by European authors in their original language, with translations into French, Dutch and English.
For this year’s anniversary, the festival joined forces for the first time with the European poetry platform VERSOPOLIS. Under the motto “Let’s go vir(tu)al” it took place for the first time in virtual form on five evenings.
The ÖKF Brussels was pleased about the participation of the Austrian poet Cornelia Hülmbauer. Together with authors from the Netherlands, Poland, and Scotland, she presented her text “Zyklus V” on October 14 via video feed. Following the poetry lectures, there was a lively virtual discussion moderated by the Belgian writer Sofie Verraest.
An excerpt from “Cycle V” was to be read, as from the poems of the other 24 invited authors, in original language and with their translations, in addition to the online platform on the public transport network of Brussels. Passers-by could also read excerpts from the poems at the fence of the popular Brussels park Cinquantenaire.
