In October 2020 Mexico will finally be able to go to the theater again! The biennial German-language theater cycle “Theaterwelt” had to be postponed until autumn 2020 so that the joint project of the Austrian, German and Swiss Embassy, as well as the Goethe Institute of Mexico and the Mexican Theater Coordination of the Institute of Fine Arts INBA can take place again in the large theater center in Chapultepec Park. The goal of the theater cycle is to familiarize an audience of Mexican students, theater scholars and young directors with German-speaking playwrights. This time Austria will be represented by Gerhild Steinbuch with her play Motorship Pocahontas, while Katja Brunner will participate for Switzerland and Rebekka Kricheldorf for Germany. The staged readings, which will be performed in the “El Granero” theater at the end of October in front of a somewhat reduced audience due to the Corona measures, will therefore also be shown virtually at the same time. The dramaturgs have already taken part in a joint virtual discussion in advance and will also hold a virtual workshop each.
