GoBugsGo is a multidisciplinary initiative that aims to motivate as many people as possible to get involved in concrete ways to save the planet from total collapse. Launched by the artist and filmmaker Edgar Honetschläger in 2018 at the Kunsthalle Vienna and subsequently presented at the Forum Stadtpark in Graz, the Oberösterreichische Landesgalerie in Linz, the Frankfurter Kunstverein and others, the project makes its first stop in Italy. Within the framework of GoBugsGo, the collective performance “Sugomania” will take place in Naples. Together with the audience, Honetschläger processes tomatoes from the garden of Cristina di Stasio (founder of Quartiere Intelligente) into Sugo, which is intended to arouse interest in his utopia in which animals are no longer driven from their habitats by human intervention. The project has two goals: On the one hand, it wants to draw attention to the importance of insects as a fundamental and endangered aspect of the ecosystem. On the other hand, the goal is to collect enough donations to acquire land and declare it NON HUMAN ZONES in the sense of renaturalization. In this way insects and birds will be given back their natural habitat.
