Models of low-threshold alternative forms of living
In June 2019 the White City Center Tel Aviv (aka “Max Liebling Haus”) was opened as a new architectural and cultural facility in Tel Aviv.
As part of a series of digital lectures on social issues in architecture, architect Ulrike Schartner from the architecture office Gaupenraub in Vienna on July 20, presented three social architecture projects by her office. One of the projects presented was “VinziRast mittendrin”.
The planning of VinziRast-mittendrin focused on the promotion of diversity and a heterogeneous urban environment. The exchange following the presentation with the two experts from Tel Aviv City Council, Ella Weber and Sharon Melamed, focused on the challenges of rethinking housing units in the future to preserve social urban diversity, as rented housing in urban areas is often unaffordable for lower and middle-income groups.
The event was broadcast live from the White City Center via Facebook and is available on the Facebook page of the White City Center.
